Note From the Author: I went to college at the University of Notre Dame from 1989-1993. I absolutely love my school, and I love my animals. For years, twenty-eight to be exact, I sent my loved ones Christmas letters penned in the voice of my pets. First, I wrote using the voice of my cats, Taz and Puzzle. Then I continued with my dogs, Hailey and Molly. And now the letters are “written” by my current dog, Clover. Clover is a playful, quirky, and funny French Bulldog. When I decided to write a Notre Dame children’s book, I knew she would be the perfect narrator. I hope you love seeing the Notre Dame campus through Clover’s eyes. When Fiction Became Reality
When I first wrote Clover Goes to Notre Dame, Clover herself had never actually set paw on campus. The story was a dream—my way of imagining what it would be like if my little Frenchie got to experience the magic of Notre Dame.
But then, life surprised us both. After the book was published, that dream became reality. Clover and I made the trip to South Bend, and she finally got to see the Golden Dome, the lakes, and all the places I had only written about.
Here she is, proudly sitting by the water during her real-life visit to the University of Notre Dame. A fictional adventure turned into a memory we’ll treasure forever.
A Dream Written in Blue, Gold, and Paw Prints
Writing this book was truly a dream come true. Being able to weave together two of my greatest loves—Notre Dame and my beloved Clover—was absolute magic. What started as a simple idea grew into something far more meaningful: a story that celebrates tradition, loyalty, and the joy of sharing life’s adventures with your best friend.
